Tim lives in New York City, where he is a freelance designer and scenic design assistant. He regularly designs Off- and Off-Off-Broadway, as well as regionaly. Favorite New York credits include Volume of Smoke, Six Degrees of Separation, Claymont, and Guilty. Prior to moving to New York, he lived in Seattle, Washington, where he earned his MFA in scenic design at the University of Washington's School of Drama. Before moving to Seattle, Tim worked as a set designer and scenic artist, first for Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, TN, and then later for Theatre IV/The Barksdale Theatre in Richmond, VA. In one intense year at Playhouse on the Square and its sister theatre, The Circuit Playhouse, he designed and painted 8 shows, while acting as charge artist for an additional 11 plays and musicals. He considers POTS one of his artistic homes, and has been thrilled to return there as a guest artist a number of times in the years since he first worked there.

Working at Theatre IV, one of the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre companies, gave Tim the chance to revisit some of his happiest childhood memories of attending TIV’s performances. Working as a resident designer and master scenic artist for Theatre IV and its sister theatre, The Barksdale Theatre, allowed him to work on a wide range of theatre for both young and adult audiences. In addition to his work as a designer, Tim has also worked as a freelance design assistant in the studios of some of the country's top scenic designers. He has had the opportunity to work with exciting designers such as Loy Arcenas, Allen Moyer, Klara Zieglerova, Thomas Lynch, Christine Jones, Mimi Lien, Robert Dahlstrom and Bill Forester. While working with Christine Jones he assisted on several projects, including the opera version of The Elephant Man and the off-Broadway premier of the new musical version of Spring Awakening. He spent 5 months in the studio of Thomas Lynch, where he worked on a number of projects including Iphigenie en Tauride, a unique collaboration between the Metropolitan Opera and Seattle Opera, and on the world premier productions of the new stage adaptation of The Great Gatsby, produced by the Guthrie Theatre and The Seattle Rep. With Loy Arcenas, he's worked on a number of high-profile shows, including the world premier of Tracy Letts's play Superior Donuts at Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
